Description
This score for "Stormy Weather," in Ellington’s hand, notates the saxophone section accompaniment to the soloists' melody line. This arrangement, one of at least half a dozen he would devise over three decades, appears in his first recording of the song in 1933.
Geolocation: The Cotton Club in Harlem, where Ellington and Ethel Waters made "Stormy Weather" the main attraction of the 22nd Cotton Club Parade revue.
